Zoltán Németh has received his PhD at the Laboratory of Nuclear Chemistry of Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest in 2008. His research work focused on iron and cobalt based oxides with intriguing magnetic properties. While becoming a Mössbauer spectroscopist, he investigated many iron, tin and europium based compounds like organometallics, polymers, semiconductors, catalysts, etc.
Meanwhile, he became attracted to synchrotron x-ray spectroscopic investigations on (mainly) cobalt oxides and iron complexes, and joined the X-ray spectroscopy group at his present employer, the Wigner RCP. This enabled him to increase the frequency of performing experiments at synchrotrons, as well as to increase the frequency of the measurements in the experiments, that is, to study picosecond and (at x-ray free-electron lasers) femtosecond dynamics in molecular systems.
One of his favorite recent tasks was the realization of a novel laboratory scale high energy resolution von Hámos X-ray spectrometer, which can bring synchrotron grade X-ray absorption and X-ray emission spectroscopy to any research institute, university or non academic lab.
