The topic of our research is in the intersection of mathematics and physics. We study questions related to algebraic field theory - such as the reconstruction of superselection symmetries, the construction of field algebra, the classification of phases - using mathematical methods and standards. Our interest is focused on algebraic structures that can be used fordescribing superselection symmetries, like the (weak) Hopf algebras and the Hopf algebroids. We primarily use category theory methods to examine their properties and their realisation in low-dimension quantum field theories.
