Cím: High-energy X-ray scattering, a tool to probe short-range order in amorphous alloys

Dátum: 2022. június 7., 10:00

Helyszín: 1-es épület Tanácsterem, illetve online: https://wigner-hu.zoom.us/j/82501237253?pwd=UkI5SElXaTdFL1cvbjJkUWljMUw… Meeting ID: 825 0123 7253 Passcode: 208728

Összefoglaló:
The talk will be divided into two parts. Firstly, I will briefly present the high-energy (53 keV to 145 keV) X-ray beamline 12-JEEP situated at Diamond Light Source, the UK national synchrotron facility, as a versatile instrument for material science combining X-ray scattering and imaging techniques. In the second part, I will focus on the using the total (X-ray) scattering analysis to reveal a short-range order in highly disordered systems and amorphous metallic materials known as metallic glasses (MGs). A few examples will be presented such as an in-situ study of the Invar effect in Fe-based bulk MGs, an in-situ study of nanocrystallisation of Fe-based MGs and a detailed short-range order characterisation of binary Cu-Hf MGs.
