Összefoglaló:
In previous talks, I extended the methods of band theory to superconductors. In this seminar, I discuss how to further extend the theory to treat impurities on surfaces of materials in the normal and in the superconducting state within multiple scattering theory and Green's function formalism. It is known that, as a consequence of interaction of Cooper pairs with magnetic impurities, Yu-Shiba-Rusinov (in short YSR) states form within the superconducting gap. In particular, I will show our results on magnetic adatoms on the surfaces of Nb(100) and Nb(110) in comparison with experiments. I will discuss the role of spin-orbit coupling, and how the relative orientation of the magnetization and the size of the exchange splitting influence the energy spectra. Further results will be presented for various magnetic atoms and hosts.
